"First to go, last to blow" refers to how Madison Blue has such a short spring run that when the river rises, the spring pool's hydrostatic pressure increases, turning the flow into a siphon. It's usually the first NFl spring to lose its vis, and the last one to clear.
Went there yesterday and elected not to dive the basin since you could not see the bottom. Went in at Martz the it was cloudy until we got into the main tunnel headed upstream. Downstream was low vis. Would not recommend the front end right now.
Based on the size of the waterfall the spring run had become, it would be hard to believe Madison is a siphon ATM. More likely because of the rise in the river, and the low hydro-static pressure of the system at this time, there is probably a ton of tannic seepage (which happens at Madison anyways).
There are certain placed that need to get rainfall for certain spring to get fed. Someone mentioned the Okefenokee swamp for the Luraville/Mayo/Branford area. They were not real sure about the location though.
