Are you kidding? That's colder than Ginnie. I was under the impression the aquifer was 77° there. (I understood that the aquifer gets warmer the closer to the equator you get - it's 62° here in middle Georgia, 68° in the panhandle, 72° around High Springs...)Quote:

Awww, poor Slim. Oh well, I will carry your tanks to the EOL, lay lots of hot pink line from there, and then come back and tell you all about it. Sorry...Mike said it, not me! Maybe I'll let you carry your own tanks into the cave once, if you don't tell Mike.Quote:

Come on then! And I've only spent one week so far this year in Mexico cave diving every day in those gorgeous, warm, no-flow, heavily decorated caves. This will only be my second week in Mexico this year, exploring new beautiful caves on an island in paradise. What's to hate? I mean, it's not like I get to cave dive nearly every weekend in north Florida, or hit the Atlantic for pretty reefs on the off weekend....oh wait...yeah...I do....ok...you can hate ;)Quote:

Everyone needs at least 4 bright color (all same color) clothes pins with your initales on them.
I will also make up a new set of "croc" line markers

One week to go for those of us not lucky enough to leave on Thursday. I have started my count down.
I have a few dozen orings, a small tool kit, 6 stage kits, and a couple of extra stage regs that I can bring. I have extra primary lights if you think they may be necessary.
Just a reminder, the tanks will in all likelihood be K-valves. I know most of us dive DIN, so I thought it worth mentioning ;)
An extra primary wouldn't hurtQuote:

Hmmmm. When I was in Mx in March, they had DIN valves and I assumed I'd bring DIN/yoke converters for the valves. Not right, huh? Trip to the LDS today for me?Quote:

Only a few operators have DIN valves. The tanks we all will be using will be all YOKE.
Great to hear Adam, I only wonder what the NEW MIKE LIGHT can do. Hope you dont need it to help find your way over on the fairy. I do also hope it wont melt the inside of the cave system way back in the back.

OK, I have a set of yokes. Man! Dive gear is expensive north of FL!
ok Time to pack lets GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
godspeed and good exploring

Sandy, Artic Mike and Charles: Fun working with you guys gearing up for this trip. To the entire team, please take care and have fun.
I´m sure it will be a great trip, wish I could be there!
Please post some updates of the trip, have fun and come back home safe!
Did I send a map on how to get to the house? Sandy and Slim someone will meet you at the airport. Sandy sense we have never met look for a big red line arrow. I will also put one on the house.
Sounds good. If you pick me up, I may recognize you from the video. I'll probably be in shorts and a light blue Friends of PSSP T. Hell, I am so excited, I may be wearing my BC by the time someone picks me up.

My phone will be on if you borrow a cell or from a store. 011-479-285-1065 I think that is the right country code. someone may want to resurch that
Mine worked at the airport in Cancun in March. It was sure helpful to be able to coordinate when part of our crew got delayed by several hours. Texting didn't work, though.

OK, I researched it, and found this. I *think* you use the 011 if you have a US phone. For sure if you are in the US, when you make the call.Quote:

- 011 - US exit code; must be dialed first for all international calls made from the USA or Canada
- 52 - country code for Mexico
- area code - 2 - 3 digit area codes
- phone number - 7 - 8 digits; area code + number total 10 digits
And if you're in Mexico on a US cell phone calling another US cell phone in Mexico? Hit the customer service option and talk completely free to a cute little thing that answers all your questions! (Or at least that's what I did. YMMV)
So, what did he tell you to do?Quote:

I do know it was $1.69 a minute to talk to anyone but the Sprint cutie.
Sigh...I guess the takeaway is...1) Call your cell provider 2) Don't trust the Shirleys' memory
I need a vacation!
Two years ago my buddy and I had just finished diving and shooting the cavern zone of "The Pit" which is part of the Dos Ojos system and out in the middle of the sticks and low and behold my cell phone started going off. Somehow I had gotten a text from my office manager. I texted back and it went through. We exchanged a few. The funny thing is that before that and after that I was never able to get another text to go through.
The text signal was going through the wormhole there, bouncing off to Jupiter, skating around a couple of its rings, and re-entering the earth's atmosphere just over the cell tower near your office. You obviously pleased the cave gods with your gorgeous, perfectly coiffed hair during that dive.Quote:

yup all pacaked and ready to go. Just counting down the time. Be so nice to get back into that system and get more work done and hope to get more detailed data for a awsome map.
Se you all there. Oh hay sis, beat you there.

Best of luck guys. Please bring back some more video!!!
I leave Atl tomorrow at 11AM and arrive at 12:50PM.
The Orlando contingent leaves here tomorrow at 1:50pm, landing in Cancun at 2:50pm.
Ready or not, here I come! BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
OK, aren't we supposed to bring clothespins? I hunted around for them and found many kinds but not ones I think will do. What are best? Big ones (ergo sturdy), small ones (easier to carry, harder to see), big but not too robust?
Anything will work. Just need to mark the line when you exit it.
I have some extras if you want them - from Dollar General, the only bright colored ones I could find.Quote:

:45 min to lift off
Bringing up the rear!
Got excited and knotted another 500' of line (in under 20 minutes, I LOVE my handy-dandy line knotter!)
I forgot my snorkel for possible beach swims. :-(
Hope you all have a great time. I have been on Coz this past week and leave to go home tomorrow. I did get to do some very enjoyable diving with German though.
Be forewarned though, the only worse ankle biters here than Chiuauas are the Mexican Jungle Mosquitoes. I am covereved with bites from head to toe. Seems they just love fresh American meat.
Those Mexican skeeters really loved me when we were down there in March.
Hey y'all, we expect daily updates :-D

Cancun: 6 Bodies Found in Cave, 3 With Hearts Cut Out
CANCUN, Mexico -- A gruesome discovery near the resort town of Cancun, where police discovered six dead bodies, three of them cut open and their hearts removed.
Authorities are investigating the identities of the four men and two women found dead in the natural cave, said Francisco Alor, the Quintana Roo state attorney general.

Why is there a photo taken of a man-made under-the-US-MX-border tunnel for a story about a natural cave in southern Mexico?

There was a story in last week's New Yorker about the Mexican cartels, mainly in the northwestern part of the country. La Familia was the story's focus; the Zetas are a rival gang. It's not on the internet yet unless you're a subscriber.Quote:

So now that we gave out the prize for the 200th post what are we going to do for the 300th post. oh and something like 5000' of new passage this week not a bad trip i guess.LOL
Great group it was great time diving you guys
Great job guys. Can't wait to see the pics. hope to see you in Mo.
MAG, you missed the best trip I have ever done with this group. Got more work then I thought I was going to do. My last day of diving is kind of well, I can only describe it verbaly better then on here.
Mike thanks bud, it was worth it. Expesialy the last day of diving that you allowed me to do.
Adam, thanks bud for your personal contacs you got down there.
To all the others, had a great time and hope to see many of you all along with us next time. Just think, now you got an idea of what we do and the places we work on and help us out even more onthe next trip.
SLIM
PS well this is not 300 but getting it closer.
Great trip but I am going through withdrawal right now. Without Adam and Shirley's coffee, I am not fully awake. Without a morning tank run, I am not getting a workout. And without Sherry and Lynette's breakfast, I have no energy. Right now, I should be getting in a van for a trip to Cocodrilo, Aerolito, or Sistema $%^!&*(#). Adam, let me know if I misspelled it.
Mike, thank you for putting this trip together. From my perspective, it was perfectly planned. I had a blast diving with new friends, learning new techniques, expanding my knowledge, and improving my diving skills. I have a better appreciation for cave exploration and all that is involved.
Thanks to Sherry and Lynette for some great meals! It was nice to come back to the villa and have breakfast, lunch, or supper ready after a tank run or a morning or afternoon of diving.
Brendan, thanks for for all of the line laying. I enjoyed hearing the recaps of your dives and new passage.
Thanks to Jose for being a great host and for providing some non cave dive opportunities. I had forgotten how magnificent the ocean diving in Cozumel was. It was my pleasure to meet you and your family.
Thanks to Slim, Adam, and Shirley for some great dives and allowing me to lay new line and connect some circuits. I will cherish Croc 6 with its nice pink bow!
Thanks to my roommates and dive buddies, Mike and Charles. I look forward to seeing you guys again in NFL.
A special thanks to another dive buddy - Squirrel Girl, the Mojito Maker. I do not think any on us will be able to look at a whip without thinking of you. You definitely enRICHed all of our lives! I trust that you, Mike, and Charles had a great dive at Dos Ojos yesterday.
For those of you fortunate enough to still be on the island, I wish you safe travels back to the states.
Well, unless I took too long to write this, 300 should be up for grabs.
just got back from a trip to el cedral to see the small ruins it was very cool there is a spanish church built around a mayan ruin. Then off to the cemetery you know how ghoulish us cave divers are. looks like everyone left just in time it's pouring down rain now. What a trip I've never had so much fun with a group before. Yes it's now released the name of the new system is: Sistema Sin Nombre with passages such as Eureka Tunnel, Young line, Brendan's bypass, Arctic's squeeze, Sandy's loop, Slim chance entry and and more to come. Ok lets book another trip NOW!!!!!! Mike please give the girls a special thanks from all of us they were great and are being missed here at lunch time LOL
