I dove there yesterday and I'd probably still be there in the cavern if I hadn't found the line up to the stairs.
This is the worst I've ever seen in the basin.
Eerie seeing no light at the entrance....

What does the basin look like at Peacock I and III?
My buddy and I dove P1 Sat and Sun. The basin is still a little crappy, but once you're in the cavern, it's 40+ foot vis.
3 looked really clear under the duck weed. I didn't dive it though.
My buddy and I dove the Orange Grove to P1 traverse on Saturday, 7/26. Orange Grove had about 3 foot of viz till you hit 50 feet when it opened up to 60+ foot viz. Cristal clear from Orange Grove to Challenge. A little dark for the first 200 feet after Challenge, then crystal clear to Olsen and through to Pothole. A little silty from Posthole to P1.
I understand there were 6 open water divers in Orange Grove in the early afternoon. Hope they made the dive ok. I’d rather be 2,000 feet in a cave with clear water then at 20 feet in 1 foot of viz. Monsters are lurking everywhere just beyond sight.
I’m a little amazed no one has tied off a life size rubber alligator in P1 at 5 foot depth. by mid-day, the viz drops from a whapping 3 foot to about 1 foot or less. You can imagine coming up from a dive, only to see the vague image of an alligator lurking one foot away.
Or maybe have the duckweed drape over a rubber alligator on the surface in Orange Grove? We could tie it off at the end of the Orange Grove stairs with an old shredded wetsuit.
We did Olsen Bypass on Sunday. I didn’t know they made nylon line 20 years ago. I’m guessing that’s how long the line has been in the Bypass. Maybe someone felt it would provide for better ambiance to drape the line with cave tinsel? Is this a new standard, to adorn the line with indigenous cave materials, thereby maintaining the cave ambiance? Could this be the new cave look for cave line? I checked all the cave fashion magazines, but found no mention of any such trend. Maybe the fashion hasn’t hit the US yet?
After a bit of a squeezed (restriction) we existed the Olsen bypass at the 400 foot arrow on the gold line, pointing to Olsen sink. The viz was wonderful going through the bypass. Fun dive.
