I do not know any of the other members that posted nice replies, I also received many PMs from CDF members with nice info. anywhere from legal advise to horror stories of having to work with Curt, but mostly just saying they are sorry to see the way I'm being treated by Cave Alliance.

Walter, I sent several emails to Curt (he is the one that told me I "won" the regs, that is why I replied to him), called Curts house spoke to his wife, she told me to call his cell, so that is what I did. I travel out of the country ever month of the year on work, it is VERY rare that I'm not able to check my email and voicemail in a 24hr period, for a business (Cave Alliance) to not be able to return an email or phone call in over a week is pathetic. And yes we all know Cave Alliance is a business not a Non Profit Corporation.

For us this isn't about the money, but was just a good will donation to support local organizations/events/divers. I sent you a PM. Give me a call. All parties involved are well known for their efforts in the community.

Walter, if Curt was busy and could not spare 10minutes (in the last two weeks) to send the regs he could have asked you or his wife or one of your Cave Alliance guys to put them in the mail. I thought the donations were going towards the Cave Alliance? Why do you mention ADM?

I wasn't able to speak to Curt for almost 2 weeks. He called me this morning and discussed with me your series of e-mails you sent him. Again, there were more contacts than simply Curt. As you stated were getting "a little nervous"; I wish you had contacted me and I am sorry that this has come to this. A series of goodwill gestures (Cave Summit, Light Money, Dive Rite, etc) derailed by an instance of bad communications. There are faults on both sides here.

There are several lessons learned from this unfortunate event. At a minimum: in the future, we will ensure that more than one person is in communication with winners; all items for bidding will carry with them a complete list of expected actions subsequent to the auction completion.

I greatly appreciate your bidding on the regs donated by Dive Rite. Again, I am truly sorry this ended up the way it did.

Anyone on this thread can see exactly what happened.

This is the sequence of the events that lead to this situation:

1. Dave won the auction

2. Curt (or whoever) didn't provide the regs in a timely fashion
(first mistake)

3. Curt was non-responsive to a point that made the buyer question what was going on.
(second mistake)

4. When Curt finally responded, he was unhappy with the tone of voice in the email he got back and decided that Dave wasn't "worthy" of the items he won
(final mistake)

5. Curt sent a refund, thereby ending the deal

Only at this point did Dave complain on the forum and certainly I can't blame him.

And now you're trying to convince us it is his fault and maybe Philips?

No way...

The real reason for this mess is that Curt had his feelings hurt and completely overreacted. There is just no way to this should fly...
Anyone who justifies this is in the same boat with Curt.

I thank Dive Rite and the other great Co's that donate great equipment for fundraisers and the like! It's a shame when the donated equipment does not get used like intended. I'm going to read your PM now and will give you a call in a few minutes.

WOW what a deal, at least for me. I get the entertainment of reading about various douchebags, people insulting each other, and generally behaving badly in public, AND a chance to win 2 free regulators. Yeah for me!

I returned Jon Bernot's (Dive Rite) phone call and they wanted to make things right (even though DR did nothing wrong). I sent my PayPal money directly to DiveRite and tomorrow I will have a beautiful new set of Dive Rite XT side mount regulators delivered to my front door.

no surprise, kudos to you Jon for stepping in and helping bring this to a close. Everyone who reads this will have to make his or her own evaluation but once again, you stepped right up (no matter the resolution.)
