Understanding check: If you are an artist with no interest in cave diving but have springs-related paintings, to submit you must pay the $20 entry fee and also purchase a $50 CDS workshop ticket, so really it would be a $70 fee. I am asking because I have a lot of friends that are artists and do springs work that may be interested and I want to clearly relay the information to them.

By the way this is a good way to get people to come to the workshop because I previously did not have an interest and this might get me to go :)

Other than professionals: why is there a fee for divers showing their art?

To offset the cost of the exhibition walls that were built for the show.

There is no separate section in this show. In other words there's not a pro section nor amateur section. When I curate a show I will match work the works best together to create a total visual experience. The words amateur and professional means very little in the visual arts. Those are words for accountants. Vincent Van Goth wasn't a pro till 4 years after his death. Any time you do a show like this there are costs so there is always a submission fee (usualy $35) and a 70/30 split. The times when there is not a fee theres a 50/50 split. Thats just the way it is. There are no patrons anymore. If you want to do an exhibition, the artist have to contribute to the costs. Even a small show like this with myself, Bobby and Steve volunteering thier labor there are costs. When choosing a fee I tried to choose a fee that was reasonable to the artist and would let the CDS recoop the costs. Just a fyi Stephen Boyer, is doing a fabulous job on these walls and a big thank you to him.

We don't have times yet. But we do have to breakdown the exhibition in the afternoon. So it will need be a morning brunch thing.

For the purposes of photography entries, do only Florida springs qualify or do all underwater caves qualify?

Any cave/spring world wide. I'd love to see some Bahamas work.
