Life Insurance Question

I am an insurance agent in Georgia and as long as you are not a professional in the field where it is your normal occupation then you can get coverage with no rate up, exclusion, or declination. You can get from $25,000 up to $1 million or more (possible to 2.5 million)These are level term life plans with 10,15 or 20 year level premiums. Accidental death up to the face amount or $250,000 is a rider. This in not available in all states and I can only sell in GA., but if there are enough people interested I will try and get licensed in other areas. You can even get preferred and super preferred rates if in good or excellant health. I can also do a pre screen and send rates.

AS long as they can prove it was a heart attack and not a drowning you will be OK. This assumes that they were truthful on the application about diving. There are exceptions to every rule. As an agent I have a plan that asks no scuba question and therefore you do not have that problem. As one poster said it has to be a legal act. So if you are trepassing there is a possibility if you died they could get you on a technicality and no pay. So I say always try and dive in an allowed area or get signed permission.

I did look at an ING application and while they do not specifically ask about diving that ask about other hazardous activity. I can tell you an underwriter would consider cavern,cave,wreck and decompression diving hazardous. They also have a 2 week question on travel. As long as you answered yes to the hazardous question and they took you you should be OK. I'm kind of surprised and think you may have got a dumb underwriter or thaey just got back from a 3 martini lunch. I will check this further.

What type of policy was this? If it is through an employer,DAN or some standard issue plans sometimes you can get through. Most companies ask a hazardous avocation question that will cause a rate increase, waiver or denial. I do have one that asks no scuba question at all and therefore you can avoid the problem all together. Still you get lucky sometimes. As long as you answered all questions honestly they cannot get you on fraud. Be sure to dive without trepassing also as an illegal act could void the contract also.

Mine did ask about diving and follow up questions asked about average depth, time etc. I answered everything truthfully and told them that I did everything within my certification levels. They did not ask if I did deco, cave or RB diving.

Consider yourself lucky. You got an underwriter on a 3 martini lunch or just found out he was being let go. As long as you told the truth you are in the clear. It happens occaisionally. Good and Safe diving to you!

I recently incorrectly stated I had a policy I could provide. While they do not ask a scuba question on the application during the interview process they will ask if you dive over 100 feet which would most likely disqualify most divers here. You may get away with it if you only apply for $150,000 or less since they usually just underwrite off the application if there are no medical concerns since it is a standard rate policy at this point. I had asked 3 different people about this before taking my time and reputation on the line and was given wrong information by all of them. Again, I apolgize to all.

I believe that all of you are missing the point. It is not the amount of the life insurance, it is the selection of the proper beneficiary. So here are some options:

1 - Your Wife? - OK, so what has she done for you lately? Yeah, she married you, but in retrospect, was that a GOOD thing, or just another female plot.
2 - Your kids? - Face it, they are brats. You have spoiled them rotten, and they have no appreciation of money. Make them work, or have your relatives , you know, the ones that say "Oh, look how cute they are" , foot the bills for the little monsters. And college, well are they REALLY that smart? Are you sure they won't be working in public relations asking "would you like fries with that?"
3 - Your relatives? - Damn vultures- all of them. I bet they encourage you to cave dive, skydive, ride motorcycles, hunt without a orange vest, fish without a life jacket. They can't wait.
4 - Pay off your mortgage? - Hell, its the banks fault for giving you that no qualifying, interest only, no money down, 4 1/2% mortgage with a 6 year ballon payoff in the first place. Let the taxpayers cover the rest of it. I really don't mind.
5 - Friends? - Face it, no one really likes you. They hang around because you cook a mean butt roast on the grill, have a good dive vehicle, offer to pay for lunch, buy their breathing gas, never ask about the sores on their lips, and don't mind if they spit into a McDonalds cup and leave it in the cupholder of your car. You dont see any of them offering you a kidney or anything do you?

Now, MY suggestion, is to leave everything to the "North Florida Cave Divers Retirement/Diving Fund". This is a non profit fund being set up expressly to fund the retirement of people that want to go cave diving, but without YOUR help, would have to continue working.

How does this work, you ask? Simple! You list the fund as your primary beneficiary on whatever life insurance you have. Then go diving. Dive long, dive deep, blow off deco, dive solo, no mount, hell, you only really need one light anyhow. In the event of your demise, you will go out easy knowing that your wife and kids will have to get a job, the house will be forclosed, the relatives will curse you, the county may have to pay to plant you, but somewhere out there, there is a Old Fat Guy having a really good cave diving trip.

So pm today for the forms, you will be contacted by the law firm of Bud Tugley, and the North Florida Cave Divers Retirement/Diving Fund will be grateful.

O.M.G. OFG!!!! I just spewed all over my keyboard and my office mates were going to call for help because they thought I was having a seizure! Lucky for me, none of our phones have an 11 on them, so no one could figure out how to call 911.
