When we entered the cave there was nobody else in it. On the way in the vis was 100'. When we got back to p500' nobody else had been through that point of the cave, and the vis was zilch.Quote:

Jackson is the only place I have seen a very mini collapse. A couple of years back just past what is labelled as Courts Squeeze on the map I have I noticed that in a couple of places there were some 2-3ft size boulders resting across the main line. I then heard a sound behind me and just caught sight of what has subsequently been described as either a pebble or a b****y big rock descend from the roof trailing a very impressive trail of silt that hit my wifes shoulder. She claims it left a bruise despite 7mm of neoprene!
I should add that this resulted from no provocation other than bubbles. It does make you think sometimes about the stability of some caves.

Next time you're at CEE ask Rich about his story about silt-outs in that area of Ginnie. It's an interesting one... makes you realize how important reels can be.

I don't know how it was done, but I've seen it pretty trashed at that precise location; just prior to the second breakdown. We were returning from a scooter dive, came over the breakdown and the vis went down to about 5 feet. That was definitely not the result of a collapse; as we passed the team with near to zero skills once we cleared the first breakdown.Quote:

I have experienced a couple collapses; one in Madison on the way to the godzilla room; in that room that opens up through the window in the floor (actually it was my bubbles that dislodged it, and my buddy was the witness; it came down between the two of us). Since that time I've noticed a few more rocks turning up at that point as well. I also witnessed a collapse of 3 good sized boulders coming off the wall in Maddachaulk. Neither instance kicked up as much silt as the cloud I encountered that day in JB.
I ran into two divers at little river the next day who thought they were the cause of it. Someone told them to check out skid row and they weren't quite ready for it.
On another note; do most of you turn the dive when you hit zero vis?
