Yes, there is/was a PVC pipe sticking up to hold the line and then a split shortly after. The left split goes sidemount, winds a short way and through a belly rub to reach a Goethite dead-end "graveyard". If instead you go strait ahead at the split it goes a several hundred feet with decent flow and actually passes underneath and behind the drop-off from 60-90' in the main passage. If you are insane it is barely posiable (sidemount/no-mount) to squeeze thru a restriction at the "end" there and up a sand slide to come back up to the 60' level back near the start of the wormhole circuit. (if you don't get buried and die in the sand slide).

Hey Gary. John Mc. tried that sand slide area and called it quits, so he contented himself by making the handshake connection. John is a fairly thin and wiry guy. He also has balls of steel. If he says don't do it, I wouldn't do it 'you hoser'. :-D (John was born in Canada. I hope you get the reference).

thanks forrest, by the way, I put all the maps I've collected lately on a website. don't know what the rules are for posting url's here, so unless someone gives me clearance, i'll restrict the url to those who pm me for it. some of the maps are stick maps, some are just plain inaccurate, so beware! use at your own risk.

Here is a copy of an exchange of E-Mails between Rick and myself in June of 2004. At that time his E-Mail was: muddog1@alltel.net From time-to-time he has posted sale announcements of his LR map on the Forum. As to the "accuracy" of his map, I'd guess I'd have to say (as Rick does)...show me a better one of LR! Ordering info at the bottom of his message. :-D

"Hi Rick: Talk about a fortuitous message. Two weeks ago I almost fell off the couch at Cathy's (Dive Outpost) trying to read your map after having just dove the place for about a week! The map is posted up pretty high and so you have to stand on something to read it! At least us very old people do.

Take off to the great white north - its a beauty way to go. :wink:

I tested my first sidemount rig in the sand slide: found out the bungee straps get caught in the rough ceiling too easy and that once you are burried it's near imposiable to use those neat little escape clips built into the harness straps.

I made it thru and went around the long way around to get back rather then return thru the slide. Fortunately the reel got jammed up with sand and I was able to pull the reel out by the string rather then go back down after it or pull it out by 400' feet of line. :wink:

Then I went home and redesigned my rig. :)

Ya....I saw the 60' end of that sand&shell slide. I eased down about 4-5' and decided it was too dangerous. John tried from the other end and came to the same conclusion.

BTW I knew you'd done it. I had heard about it some time ago. You 'hoser'. Ah well, live and learn -- thank God! I do believe God does love the occasional fool and drunkard. God does have a sense of humor after all. 8)

Yeah, the steel balls really help my trim, and if my wing fails I can drop one or both and regain my buoyancy! It's a better way to dive, but comes at some cost.

So that's the secret. You've had perfect trim from almost day one of OW. No wonder it took me so long. I had to go SM just to simulate what you have naturally. :lol:

Forrest brought his maps up today & it looks to me, the place we were at is adjacent to the the Mud Room Tunnel.
We were on a short line called the Nuble Run Line.
Along the line is a notation that says silt, which is differently correct.
We saw this line off to the side & had not seen it before so, thought we would check it out.
It doesnt go any where, just from point A to point B & ends, evidently an old survey line.
The map is signed by Richard M. Gunter.
The map is very nice & detailed but, does have some flaws.
