Just go to Wallmart and buy one of those neatly packaged US diver mask fin and snorkel packs. Stuff that rig into a mesh goodie bag with a 30lb weight belt and 6ft pony with 100% O2. Leave that setup at the waters edge with a note that reads, "Whatever you do, Do Not use this to go to the bottom of the lake."
Hey Microtruk, you want to drive with me out to the nest this weekend? I have an old pony bottle and reg setup I dont want anymore.
TJ...I will be in Orlando over the weekend. I can take the sign in box back if you need me to. I don't think I will have room for the table.

I like the "look around" rig idea
Vandals suck. I don't understand the mentality of some people who think that trashing things is "cool".
Grrrrrrrrrrrr.....
We're in MickeyTown right now - but not headed the way of the 'Nest, or I'd take the box back for you if someone else didn't get to it first....
This really sucks. Did you take time to document the damage (photographs?) so you could present it to the rangers in charge of the area? This would likely net the best results as well as demonstrating our willingness to work with them to make the area better overall for all users. This being hunting season I am sure there are some types with badges patrolling the area that would take vandalism very seriously and be happy to help put a halt to it. This definitely needs to be reported.Quote:

More than likely, you'll have a group of drunken red necks with nothing better to do than to destroy land sites that are used for recreation. It is how they 'get-off' when they have a 'buzz' on-! About the only recourse we have is to notify the DEP & local rangers about what is happening. Lest, you wish to employ the talents of the newly formed 'WKPSDP' members-! Some of which have the skills & talents to make these 'buzzards' disappear-!
Just a thought-!

Eagles Nest is in the middle of the WMA and it is deer season. Not to excuse what was done but deer hunters want deer and human scent and man made objects ruin their sites. A site next to water is a good one.
Just keep in mind that the general gun season runs from Nov. 12 – Jan. 22 in the area around the Nest. If theres a choice between cave diving and hunting you better believe they'll close it to us for those three months.

I don't believe it was hunters. It just 'felt' like something young hoodlums (the brainless type), would do. I've never met a hunter out there that wasn't interested in what we were doing, and they are a great source for leads, but I can't talk about that here.... I dive there in the afternoons/evenings, during hunting season, since most hunters hunt in the morning.
