There is nothing insurmountably wrong with either the Nomad or the Armadillo. Neither are "cheap" systems, although they can be had cheap since they've been around longest. The biggest problem I see with people using the nomad is their wing is way too far towards their head. If you're tall enough, it's just a matter of lengthening the shoulder straps and shortening the crotch strap, and configuring the bungee system to force air lower in the wing. It's not the best designed wing, but it works fine. You see a lot of nomad divers with shoulder weights; most could reduce the amount of shoulder lead by adjusting their harness correctly. It's also a major pain in the ass to adjust the shoulder straps on a nomad. Start with Faber LP85s, it's probably where you're going to end up.
