Do you think it would be feasible to put in one of those pneumatic counters? It would require a slab of cement at the iron ranger and one of those things that used to ring the bell at a gas station when gas stations were full service. Or perhaps there could be a sign in form at the iron ranger indicating the pass number of the person entering and the purpose of their visit. No money paid, just our pass numbers and license plate number.

This would help count actual visitors and might be able to help identify divers if there was a box on the form for purpose of visit.

True, but it sorta defeats the purpose of buying an annual pass, unless he meant just putting an empty envelope in the iron ranger.

For many of the mountain biking parks around here they require that you sign in and sign out to show usage, even if it's free. Orlando Wetlands Park (popular hiking spot) does this as well.

Maybe a second type of envelope or slip available at the gate that annual passholders can place in the box with no fuss or writing and then a daily count could be had

This is one of the crazier schemes Gainesville has come up with. (Luckily, I live within one mile of Marion County just south of Gville.)
I guess the city won't retain their "Tree City USA" status when it starts looking like General Sherman just marched through....

Sherman's March To The Sea targeted industrial, civilian, agricultural, military facilities, livestock, roads, bridges, railroads.

But Sherman left the forests intact!
