Want rapid accident analysis and want the IUCRR to determine a mechanism

There is a accident anaylsis committee now. If you're really interested in this and in Florida or semi local I suggest you offer to volunteer for the cds.

This has been the basis of my opinion on accident analysis and the lack of desire to release information since I started diving overhead environments in 2015. There is zero reason to hide information because everything is public record unless it's still an open investigation months or a year-plus later (and let's be honest, how many accidental death investigations are not finalized fairly quickly?).

I want people to listen to accident analysis. Pretty sad when two people are in the room listening to me and Charlie and we give a specific example of something stupid and six months later one of them is dead from exactly what we said not to do.

I used to care a lot. So much so that I was threatened expulsion for calling out some of the bs I saw that nearly killed people. When I didn?t rescind my QA after an instructor brought students to the surface on a breath hold two days in a row I was expelled.

Information on fatal/near fatal incidents is absolutely necessary for the safety of all cave divers everywhere.
BUT, the "need to know" is not the "need to know right now"*. A suitable waiting period should be observed to
publish information in order to respect the needs of police/law enforcement work, and to give the families
some measure of privacy to morn. This waiting period should be negotiated and agreed to by all parties.

* - The only exception to the waiting period is if there is an IMMEDIATE hazard to divers. I.E.- contaminated
fills or the incident with the knock off flex hoses for 2nd stages that were failing and throwing debris into
2nd stages. This information needs to be disseminated immediately for the safety of all divers.

Define “suitable”.

There is no sense in keeping objective facts a secret. Mourning is unrelated to factual analysis.

"Suitable" can be defined after law enforcement determines there is no crime and their investigation is finished.

I agree mourning has no relation to factual analysis, but if the cave diving community wants to have a period of respect and mourning,then senseless conjecture threads where the only information known is name and location, could be held.
