I always enjoy the patterns in the dunes along the ginnie gold line after the maple leaf and all the way to the jump into double domes. Last week on a swim dive to the dunes with Jason G. I noticed what looked like tracks all over the top of a dune...showed it to Jason and after the dive we decided it was probably a crayfish. Well those tracks bothered me because i had seen tracks like that before in a sump system in Germany and they were made by a cave snail. Thinking maybe a chance for a cave snail find in ginnie i scootered back to the spot with my camera the next dat and found the little guy, he is in the upper center of the image:

Upon close inspection it appears to be one of the common snails you see in the eye entrance...my hypothesis is that since fay everyone is entering the eye and this guy was dislodged and landed on a diver and got the ride of his life only to be deposited in the void and he is now vandalizing the cave with his unsightly tracks.
I did not remove him on the dive but wish i had....so the next time anyone is inbound or outbound between the dogleg (coat hanger) and the jump to double domes (closer to the latter, just after the rock windows) head to the top of the nearest dune and see if you can find him and remove him if he is still alive. It will be interesting to see how long it takes the cave to repair the damage to the top of the dune. Bill Huth
