Peacock III Deep Section

I don't think I've ever posted on here before except maybe to buy something, so a brief introduction.... HI! :)

I haven't heard too much information on the deep section in P3; I've seen it and tried to wiggle in it, but backmount 95's seems a little too big for me to fit in the hole. I don't think I want to try it unless sidemounted anyway....

When's the last time someone has been in this section of cave? I'm sure it's a silty, nasty mess, but for some reason I've always wondered what the tunnel is like in there. I was just wondering who's been there and if it is even worth diving today.

Posted some photos of a dive with AW to Hendly's Castle we did July 15, 2007.
That should give you an idea. Unless of course you want to follow the line in the floor of Hendly's. If that is the case you are on your own.

Thanks Alan, but I've been to the Castle a few times; just trying to figure out where the other tunnels out of there lead. I think the one that goes to ~200ffw is the jump off to the right, but it may be the one in the bottom too. I haven't been in either one. Just trying to figure out if I want to try.

I've heard horror stories of the line going out the floor. I don't think I need any of it even in sidemount

Yes the right one does - thru a fairly tight restriction at about 160'. I don't know about the one at the bottom I don't remember seeing one there.

There is a line going almost straight down in the very bottom of the last room. I have not wandered in there but have seen it and most people I have shown it to have overlooked it prior. I do not know of the line you guys are talking about that is before that. Care to elaborate?

That line drops into a sidemount passage, to about 200', makes a right angle turn, line running along the top of a very tight restriction, and then into the lower passage that parallels the breakdown at 180' for a while then goes on for hundreds of feet. I've never been to the end of that line, but will one of these days. The line is very old, and the passage is dark and 'nasty', and your return to exit through that restriction (at least that part) will most likely be in zero vis.

You will lose the line at the bottom of the restriction if you don't finger it through the restriction...

This is a trimix dive.

So, when are we going to try it again? I need to take my turn down the hole. Then I will get the Farallon ready, if we get permission, of course..
