Need help on finding a minor spring

Long ago, I remember reading about a spring or springs in the cross florida barge canal, or maybe river, near Inglis or Yankeetown. I can not locate my ancient copy of Ned DeLoach's book however. Could anyone with knowledge of the locations of any of these springs contact me? I've checked all the normal resources, my original Bulletin 31, the new on online, and others. So far the best I can find is Sulphur Spring in Yankeetown area. I think the ones I was looking for were actually submarine vents.

Please help if you can. This is for a water quality issue in the area.

The 1975 verson of DeLoach's book "Diving Guide to Florida Springs" describes a Nichols Spring in the vicinity you were talking about. It says:

"From US 19 S of Inglis turn E on first paved road S of large set of power lines that are located just S of barge canal. (Road angles sharply back N) Follow signs to boat ramp at the power dam.

There are actually two springs located in the river between the boat ramp and the dam. Their boils can be spotted easily from shore. The closest spring is Nichols; the other is called Fire Hydrant Spring. Both provide interesting diving. Numerous fossils have been recovered from around the spring area and down the river."

No clue if in the 31 years since this book was published the power lines are there, the road in question is still the first paved road, etc. In the late 60s, I was looking for Kissengen Spring which was near Bartow. It had dried up around 1947 as I recall, and I was curious what was left. I followed the instructions in my reference book which based everything on the city limit signs. I wasn't smart enough to figure out that city limits and associated signs can move in 20+ years, and I never did find it.
