KY the new Tribolube?

After various tests on oxygen bottles I've determined not only does KY lubricate exceptionally well. But it also appears to be O2 "safe". Works even better at night, with the lights off as it appears to be photosensitive.
Next will be a series of tests to see if it also works on the DIN threads to make them screw better. Will keep you guys posted.

I just looked up K-Y gel, the primary ingredient is Glycerine. A hydrocarbon (C3-H8-O3).

According to the MSDS, although stable and non-reactive under normal conditions, it can polymerize (boom!) at temperatures above 290c.

AND under the column "Stability", it is listed as "REACTS VIOLENTLY WITH STRONG OXIDIZERS".

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that 3,000psi O2 might be considered a strong oxidizer. AND given the chemical formula alone, it looks like it might not "play well and get along" with high pressure O2.

Just going on the chemical formula, 1 glycerin molecule would absorb 7 atoms of oxygen and degrade to three CO2 and four H2O. Both reactions being extremely exothermic.

How about Astroglide?

I figure if it?s good enough for space travel, surely we can use it in caves?

Same ingredients. Glycerin is the primary.

Good for applying condom catheters, bad for lubricating regulator first stages.

I use this on my wrist seals to help them glide on and off more easily than anything else I have found. Water solvable to boot...

Are we really debating ky as an oxy clean lubricant? I assumed this was a joke from the first post
