Equipment Safety Solution

I dove Little River today for the first time in approx. 2 yrs, and was very hesitant since I was alone, it was croweded with all types of people, and I have been hearing about the thefts among the more popular swimming/cave diving sites. So my simple solution.... prep all the gear (i'm sidemounting) and carry all your tanks and stuff to the top of the stair case and lean them against the split rail fence. You can still see them from your car as you get into your suit and such, then you can go down to the water, take a dunk to cool off and haul the gear from the top of the stairs to the bottom..... at least this way you always have an eye on the gear. I also tied my pit bull to the bumper of my truck and keep a .45 under the seat, but these are just safety precautions.

Pour puppy probably will get addict to Budwiser and develop a southern accent when you make it back home spending days with crowd of locals. He will be a dawg :-)

Hope you left your puppy plenty of fresh water, it was a hot day for sure!!!

Puppy had a cool bowl of spring water I filled up just before gettin in, as well as my brother got me this cool pad that you soak in cool water and the gel inside stays cool for up to 4 hours. I left that sitting under the bumper/bed of the truck and he just chilled in the shade while I was on the dive. I always try to find a shady spot to park in, and usually I dive in the evenings so it is that much cooler. I also take him for a dip after I get in my suit to cool him down... he is a trooper!

yesterday but didn't see you or the dawg! We dove in the AM and left by noon. Almost nobody there except divers in the early AM. Nice dive though, flow wasn't very strong and water was very clear. Too much particulate in the water to make good photos. Locals started to show up about the time we left.

Matt........The 45 under the seat of your car is a bad idea.......>Some feeble minded red necked thief could easily bust your windows & find your 'piece' only to car-jack someone else at gun point. You would be better off taking one of the c02 powered spear guns with you & stashing it under the water next to the staircase in LR-! That way the thief would be an easy target, providing he is within range of the spear gun-!

I was kidding about the pit bull and the .45 I don't have any guns, except the ones on my arms... just kidding again. My dog is actually a pit bull/ lab mix and would probably lick anybody that tried to steal my gear... so I guess I'm out of luck. But I do have a nice spear gun... so who knows, maybe I'll have to bring that next time.
