Peacock 8/10/13
We got the news Peacock reopened around lunch today and headed straight for it.:clapper We arrived to find we had the place to ourselves. We decided to go in at P1, where there was a decent boil on the surface. After briefly looking around the cavern we headed down mainline. There is no shortage of silt and debris which is very easily disturbed. The cave looks pristine with all the hand prints and drag marks covered. Vis was in the 30' range with spots noticeably less. There was a mild flow from the sign to Pothole at which point there was a significant drop. We continued on and eventually jumped through Olsen. Once on the other side of Olsen the vis was quite a bit better. However it had a heavy layer of very fine silt on every surface. We made it to the crypt before turning the dive at the 65 minute mark. This was only my second time back there and I still think it is my favorite part of this system.
The dive out was uneventful with the exception of a light failure. We did however make it back to cavern in only 45 minutes with the flow to our backs. After a 2 minute deco stop we made our way out.
All in all I couldn't be happier I was able to get a dive in at Peacock this trip.
P.S. Bring bug repellent!

Can't wait to go dive peacock now that its open, thx for the report.

We're going to return tomorrow. I'm sure we won't have the system to ourselves again though. Come on down, the vis is low (for here) but the diving is fine!

We went to look at Charles this afternoon. The run is extremely tannic but there is a slight boil above the entrance with slightly better vis. Give it a week, maybe two, and barring more rain it should be diveable as well.

I am heading down next month.
