While diving P3 with my buddy last weekend, we encountered an interesting woman. She's working on a project to save the springs called Springs Eternal Project within the Alachua Conservation Trust. Attached is an image of the fact sheet (it's in a magazine-like format and is 4 pages.) I'd be happy to scan the it for anyone who is interested. Contact me by PM or whodunit68 at gmail. I will be heading up to High Springs today and will have it with me for anyone who is interested in seeing it. Lesley Gamble (she doesn't work on drysuits, sorry) also gave me permission to give out her contact information but I will do that in email or PM rather than a public forum. I will send her the link to this thread.
The idea of the project is to raise awareness of the significance of the springs as well as work to protect them. They are looking for sponsors for a special initiative which will have a photo of a spring on Urban Aquifer buses. Sponsors would receive the donor name or logo displayed on the bus back panel, a framed photo by John Moran, and a day of spring hopping (for a $100k donation.) There are other donation amounts. More information can be found on JohnMoranPhoto.com.
I will seek to connect Lesley with those of you in our community who are working in support of the springs. She's a professor at U of F and I know we have a prominent professor in our community. I will ask him for his permission to connect as well.
I know many of us have a great interest in water and springs quality and this is a chance for us to work together with an organization that seems to be working in that direction as well.
Thanks,
Steve
