****warning re doing business with ol' gravy leg*****
So several of you have done business with me, I'm a fan of buying used where it makes sense. I have had SOME experience with shipping/mailing but since I'm in N FL 2 or 3 times a month it is usually not a big deal to do local pickup. I recently had an experience with purchasing used from an advertisement here that made me leery of purchasing from someone I don't know. Details are below.
On Aug 30 I paypal'ed Ol Gravy Leg (OGL) for the MK15/G250 listed in this posting. As you can see from the postings in the thread, shipping was offered as included. We came to an agreement on price and I was told the regs were shipped on Aug 31. I had ordered something from a fellow on ebay about the same time and got it the following Tuesday or Wednesday, so when I had not received these regs the following week, I enquired from OGL about the expected arrival date and was told to expect them Sept 7. When that date past with no regs I sent a couple more emails, trying to determine if they were lost or potentially caught up in the mail. From the tone of his PMs, it was clear that OGL was not appreciative of my emails - at one point somewhere midmonth he even asked if I "had a trip planned or something". After a certain point, I just asked for a refund since I had not received the regs. We had been back and forth about the value of me going to the post office to ask about the regs, and he was adamant that if I wanted a refund I had to go to the post office or I had to wait 30 days... I called the post office and they told me there was no point in coming in, in person, that there was nothing I could do. They did say parcel post has, in the past, taken as much as three weeks, so to give it that long, which I did as of last Friday (9/21).
I formally asked OGL for a refund, again, Monday (9/24), and haven't heard from him. I went ahead and filed a dispute with PayPal on Wednesday (9/26) and have still not heard from him. There are two steps to the PayPal process so I'll be taking it to the next level shortly.
In all honestly, I don't believe that he did not ship the regs, but I do believe that once he realized I did not receive them and wanted my money back, he has shown no interest in making anything right. The last communication I have from him is 9/17, on CDF, even though I filed a PayPal dispute two days ago. Therefore I believe that people need to be aware of issues with him as a seller and ensure that even if he is offering something for sale "shipped" that they should be aware he is likely to send it parcel post with no tracking number. I didn't have any idea he would ship it that way, I certainly would have paid the few extra dollars for tracking at a minimum.
