Eye to Ear..... does it have to be an adventure ??

I dove Devil's last night. On my way in Rich told me to enter from the Ear, and he was complaining about the multiple lines runing from the Eye to mainline. On the way out, I understood why he said to enter from the Ear. At least 4 lines were running from mainline to exit. That was at midnight; I wonder what is happening there during the day.

Unless there is a class, can't everyone who is uncomfortable with the idea of getting in without a line, put a cookie on the "temporary permanent" line? Whoever is going to remove that line, if he/she sees a cookie he will not remove it.

Going through those lines, felt like Cathrine Zeta Jones on the movie Entrapment, and remembering that scene, it was kind on tough to focus on my deco stops. :lol: :lol:

That was a good movie. I liked (whats her name?) Sean guy was pretty good in it too. The lines may be just a result of the new divers, doing what they were trained to do. Everything else seems to be blown out. So there isn't anywhere else to practice. On another note, I completely understand. But the movie was good. :)

With everything else blown, the line may get mysteriously extended from the main line to the Eye. Do you know anyone who works at Ginnie that could suggest this?

Usually in place anytime the barrier is up. I expect it's there already - but not everyone is using it.

Oh man, Betik.....you had it easy :D There were six or seven when we came out, I'd been scootering with Rob M and we both tried to put the lines in place upon exiting. At least two were flapping in the breeze, so we just tried to tighten 'em up, put rocks on the lines etc but it was definitely a spiders web....
On the bright side, last night there were only 2!!
I know before the "temporary guideline" was labeled as such and now it isn't, so maybe that's the reason why.....

At 9 AM today there was only 1 line running into the eye. None at the ear. I got outta there at 11 AM when the throngs & thongs started crawling over the place.

I ran my own reel the other day because I always do, and always will.
It was a bit of a mess, and a class was doing exit drills at the same time, but it was not a big problem.
I was never taught the "cookie on the temporary pemanent line" deal, and to be honest I wouldnt do it anyway.
The only way you can truely "maintain a continuous guideline to the surface is to run your own, anything else is a compromise.

I am all for running a primary line, but place it right! Saturday, there were lines floating loose and flapping in the breeze, or run straight down the middle between the floor and the ceiling like they owned the f#$%ing place and were the only ones there. Both Sat. and Sunday, I had to pin lines down with rocks due to poor placement. There are so many rocks jutting up, or on the floor that there's no excuse for not placing the line properly except poor instruction.

Yes, I agree with you on that.
I try to run mine down the right side, all the way around the outside of cavern wall, and down low. When done correctly, you should almost not really see it unless your looking for it.
Like you said, The eye has a thousand good placement points, I would imagine you could have 4-6 lines, done neatly in there.

Yes I agree that you can easily run 4 to 6 lines in there and placing them correctly. It would just suck to do a 140 minute stage dive that goes great, and have to pull out the Z-knife within sight of the exit because it's wrapped in your stages, etc. I think we need cave police there. They can put a citation and an fine on the reel at fault!
