Question regarding lights
Hi,
I have a question on lights.
I am looking at getting a Green Force set up, mainly for my open water diving (night, wrecks etc) but will need for cavern and cave diving (when I get there).
I currently have a 50W HID Hartenberger (German) which has finally given up the ghost and I really wanted to get a feel from cave divers what minimum specs I should be considering:
Is 50W sufficient or would 100W be better??? I don't think I have ever seen a 100W in action but my 50W was plenty. However, this had the possibility of operaing at 5% to 125% with a burn time (at around 80%) of 1 hour - ok for a single tank night dive. The Green Force is a on/off operation so the whole dive would be with a light giving out 50W or 100W - depending on the choice.
The configuration would have a battery pack giving either 180 mins or 270 mins (depending on the pack) and would be connected to cylinders with umbilical to Goodman handle.
My main question I suppose is whether 100W is too much??
Any advice welcome.
Graham

If you dive solo both are allright although i'm afraid if it will burn tracks on walls. The rest of us still use 10W HID.

Check out the Gear exchange forum a guy has some hid's for a good price and I do not want to tell you what to do but I was cavern and open water and I bought one of the U.K. Cannon's and ended up wasting my money on it and sold it and bought a dive rite slimline and I wish I would have done so in the 1st place so if you plan on doing some diving in open water dark or cavern or cave I suggest to just go ahead and save yourself some trouble and buy a canister hid light. I think the Slimline for $475 is a good deal.
