There were people standing in the back that couldn't find chairs because the room was packed! :smt102
If not for the students from Texas A&M, that wouldn't have been the case.
(There were about five times as many people at the last one I attended, in 2008.)
The students have been there every year that I have. Why shouldn't they count?
The only thing I would have changed is to have one or more members of the BOD give a "state of the union" address. It seems like an ideal time to drum up membership with those fresh young cavern students and those members that took their time and resources to attend right there in the room.
I spoke with several of the A&M students, and they are exactly the kind of energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge that we desparately need.
Shirley, don't misunderstand me - I have NO complaints about how the workshop was run. I'm just disappointed that there weren't a whole lot more people there to enjoy it.
I've been reading on Facebook and such all the dives and other recreational activity my FB friends enjoyed over the weekend. The workshop is once a year - why didn't they come?
Already had plans during the weekend to camp, not sure if I would have went anyway due to the cost. I heard they might open Otter Springs for the event, but never with any certainty and that was the biggest draw for me...
Would have been easier this weekend, with a three day weekend.
I had a family wedding this weekend and family does come first..... this is what makes holiday weekends a non-starter for me.... while they may be 3 day weekends they are also famiy get together times.....
I had to work, but I did make it on Sunday! :-)
