So my friend who is not a cave diver was telling me about a cave he found by his house. We are both instructors at the diveschool in panama city. he says its called devil hole?? he lives in washington county and it is up by equafina creek. Any idea what the cave is?? is it even a cave?? worth diving? he said he wants to dive it with me. I told him as sooon as he gets training i would be happy to take him in the cave
Good answer! There are a few nice caves in that area, so it is worth checking out.
It is high flow and very small (tight) at the opening which makes it sidemount only. I have to take a 95 off to get in, but have heard a few in 85's have made it without removing a bottle. As Forrest stated, good answer.

I know a few people who are diving Devils Hole. It is a very high flow cave with several tight restrictions. The entrance is tough most people have to remove one cylinder then fight the flow to get in. The actual passage is quite large, it has a max depth of around 70 feet. Rob replaced a lot of the damaged lines in there last fall, but I have not been in the cave all winter and the flow may well have dislodged them again. My buddy and I are planning on going back now the weather has warmed up. Let me know if you would like to get a dive in some time as DH is a nice place to go during the week after work.
There are lots of springs on the Econfina River and it is a great place to check out for new places to dive.

well I am a back mount only diver right now. and to be honest it sounds like it may be a little beyond my level. I will deffinatly wait till I get a few more dives under my belt in tighter cave ie something other then the mill pond group and devile eye/ear. but thank you for all the input. I am constantly fighting the guys at the base on the cave diving thing. we all think because we are combat dive instructors and teach tactical re=breather and scuba diving that we know it all. I try to stree to even the MAster Divers(highest military diving official)that we in the military do not come close to touching cavern let alone cave diving. and to just go get the training and right gear if they want to go in a cave. usualy during pool week during our class i bring in all my cave gear and just tell them to "go ahead set it up" and that usualy shuts them up..

I also work at the Navy base in Panama City. Having been a cave diver for decades and working with the Navy diving arena, I can't even convince them to carry a bailout bottle on a rebreather dive, equip a reg with a long hose, use DIN valves or stagger oxygen sensor replacement intervals on CCRs.
