Have you been to Ciudad Azteca? Is it run by the same people who ran La Reyna in the same location until last October? La Reyna was one of our favorite spots. The middle of October they put up a "Closed for Renovation" sign. We'll check it out in the next couple weeks.

Also, there are four restaurants in Mayo that have opened or reopened since last October. Jamie's BBQ, which is where Two Sisters used to be, a small Mexican place across the street, Rhodes, and Boondocks, all on the same side of the street as the Mexican place. The only one we've tried is Jamie's, which was quite good; BBQ very similar to Two Sisters which was one of our favorites.

Gotta throw in my two cents for Branford- if you head north from the blinking light at the ag inspection station, on the left at the far end of town is Cuzin's Cafe - my favorite place in town. They used to be on 27 and moved mid-year last year. Took them until last month to get re-opened, nice place to sit down and have a bite to eat after diving Little River or any of the area springs.

In Branford at The Gathering, on 247 just a half mile NE of Branford (247 is the Lake City Highway). There are some nice places in Live Oak, but I don't get up that way much.

I personally can not recommend Big Daddy's. The food was only so- so..., pricey for the quality & service was terrible. It was over an hour from the order until we got our meals (it was not that busy), & another hour to an hour & a half until we got our checks. Glasses & cups were not attended to & we had to go ask for refills from the waitress.

There is a newer restaurant in Mayo called Boondock's. Fantastic! Good prices, excellent food. The restaurant is family owned & operated, so service can be a little slow, but they do make sure you're satisfied. No beer served there yet, but the owner encourages patrons to BYOB right now. The owner is working through the red tape to get licensed.

There is also a little Mexican restaurant in Mayo. Its in a little grocery store,... a little hole- in- the- wall place. Nothing fancy (a couple tables & plastic chairs) but the food was absolutely wonderful!!!!!! Reasonable prices also.

Gator Barbecue is good. I think it's on first street.

Not in Live Oak, but last weekend Big Mama and I ate lunch at Rhode's BBQ in Mayo. It was among the best BBQ either of us has ever eaten. They just have weird hours. Closed Sat, 11-2 Sun thru Wed and I think all day on Thur & Fri. I highly recommend trying them out!

In Live Oak, Kay's (Cuban) on U.S. 90 West is better than average; took my wife and daughters there last wedding anniversary and they set up special table for us, service was excellent, food was good and prices reasonable. Brown Lantern (American) on U.S 90 East might be a better choice if you want a more intimate atmosphere (lights not as bright but no candles on the table), food is best in town (my opinion) but sevice slows down when the place gets crowded.
