Thread: Atomic Regs

    Default Atomic Regs

I recently acquired an atomic b1 first and second stage reg. I've heard good about the regs, but was wondering how they held up in cold water and deep water. Just starting with cave diving and was wondering if this would be something that would be usable throughout.

    Default My Atomic Regs

have been in water as cold as +38*F, and as deep as 205 ffw. I've experienced no free flows or problems of any kind, and have been diving them since '98. I like the way they breathe. Spent a week cave diving in Mexico early this month, 4 of the 7 divers were using Atomic regs.

that follows along with what i have heard from OW divers - but wanted some opinions from cave divers. I've got so much gear to buy in the near future working up from my cavern cert, that the last thing i want is another reg that ends up being a 'good deco reg'

    Default no worries

I use atomic regs in caves. No problems of any kind. easy dry breathing all the way; you won't think about it. I also dive the same regs in salt water, quarries, lakes and rivers....depths to 150 ft, temps to 38F, and nasty dirty water. They've been well tested.

I'll be diving them in the advanced trimix class coming up in June.

I've also used (still do) poseidon (old and new), scubapro, and salvo, but like the atomics best.

You should consider this info taken from Atomic's FAQ web page before using their regs for deco.
    What about Nitrox?

All of our regulators are factory cleaned and tested with oxygen compatible air. They are built with oxygen compatible components and lubricants where necessary, and as a system, are ready to use with EAN Nitrox to a maximum concentration of 40% oxygen up to 3500 PSI. Our M1 is designed for use up to 50% oxygen with no special cleaning and up to 80% maintained clean and dedicated to oxygen/oxygen compatible air service.

The only thing about Atomic regs that would make them less oxygen-compatable than other regs is titanium. But not all of their regs use titanium.
