I was planning to go there this weekend so I did a recon mission last week and the muck is looking pretty deep because of all the rain we have been getting. I'm sure a determined person could get through the last 50 yards but this fair weather diver is going to wait till the mud is only knee deep before I make that trip.

Thanks for the condition report, very timely. I think i'll do Buford some next time. Well, anybody wants to do an air share and a frog kick? I'm driving from Flagler Bch. in a 3hr range.

Walter's tampadiving website has GPS on it. From Chasahovitzka(spell?) entrance gate continue straight after paying to "iron ranger". It should be on the right side. I hopefully dive in north florida this weekend and need a "break in" dive.

I'll be checking the water level on Saturday.
If its low enough maybe we will jump in.

    Default report

Conditions report on Ginnie Wed-JAN-10-07: great viz, slightly reduced water level, higher flow, no river intrusion over the Ear.

Me and Tom H. had two nice skill refreshment (for me) dives - one 88 and another 116 min towards Sherwood Split. We lost line (twice?) and had a long hose deployment event (considered later as a part of a drill). Also it was a surprise to find unmarked O2 bottle tied off to my entry line. There was a little time to make a decision but i just wrapped the bottle to the log tight with all my 100'+ of a line (masonry line any way) leaving just a little nipple sticking out for the nuthead owner at 20'. New P-valve was successfully tested however i was lucky that Tom ran out of batteries in his camera to snap a priceless moment of the first cath removal. Yes, i didn't read the manual from manufacturer that says "trim the area" therefore loud moans and cries were heard at the remote (good choice!) parking lot for about 15 mins. DiveRite Z-knife worked Ok but for the followers who are not used to read manuals like me i would recommend to have circumcision scissors (which is ritually more appropriate thing to use on such occasions any way). On the educational side of the trip was meeting a team of the state water samplers, they told us that Ginnie's water is as full of coli as any other hole in Florida. We enjoyed the rest of a conversation as well and at the end they presented me 200 yard long disposed pvc pipe which i don't know what to do with now. Any ideas?

PS.some statements above happened only in my dream on the way home and not in the cruel reality.

    Default Skill practice

Had a two good dives. The O2 bottle was part of the line story. We also found folks had tangled our line with theirs and some other issues. Nothing we could not work out of but it gave ARY practice fixing the line in the highest part of the flow of the Ear in his new dry suit!

I put some photos up in the photo section of dives with ARY and a dive with Gary H the week before.
    Tom
