    Default Hurricane Michael

Currently forecast to make landfall in the Panhandle near Panama City, with the East side of eye wall(higher winds, storm surge) coming ashore near Marianna and Tallahassee FL.

Currently forecast for Cat 3 at landfall tomorrow afternoon.

Prayers and Good Wishes to all our friends in harms way.

So what do you think the effect will be to the caves like Ginnie, Peacock and Little River? I was planning to dive next week.

I doubt the Suwanee River caves are effected that much till the flooding makes it way south. Even then Ginnie and LR should be okay. On the bright side Ebro is looking good for this weekend. If only I wasn't working in South Florida.

The biggest problems you could encounter is lodging that is taken from people who evacuated east. The state parks at the present are closed, and will have to clean up any storm damage before they reopen.

I hope all of our friends, and Sludge too, skedaddled out of Panama City. Good luck to all!

Last year, the Santa Fe started rising ~24hrs after Irma past is by. At one point I measure the river rising 6" / hr and ultimately peaked around ~16' above normal on my property. Now by all accounts, this was as close to a "100 yr" flood as I could find any records of.

For those who are not local, At Ginnie, water was up to the bath house roof and picnic tables were lodged up in trees for a few weeks after.

I do remember going to Ginnie and seeing the water level marks left on the bath houses after Irma. I'm guessing cave diving will be on hold for a while after Michael. The thing that might make the turn around a bit quicker are the caves are supercharged at this point with all the local rain we have had and they "should" more quickly clear out should they go under.

It looks like the eye will go over the diving board at JB.

Hurricane eye is ashore and making a bee line for Merritt Mill Pond.

Eye has not degraded or weakened, it remains 2mph short of Cat. 5
