    Default Dirty Shearwater pins

I've got a Petrel 2 Fischer computer. The pins are in need of cleaning, as one of my O2 sensors is intermittent and I can make it reappear by adjusting the cable. I've tried multiple cables so I know it's the computer side of things. Someone recomended I use Deoxit Gold 100 spray, which is meant for use on electronics, can anyone recomend a less expensive option? Can I use the same stuff I use to clean the mass air flow sensor on my car?

Other recomendations? I could of course send it back to SW, but I'd rather not do away with my computer for a week or so if I can fix it myself.

Shearwater has fischer care instructions on their site. Including cleaning corrosion from the pins.

    Found it for you.

    Maybe that will help.

Perfect! I searched the petrel page and somehow missed this guide. Thank you.

I found a small tube of the stuff on amazon for $6. Will be ordering mineral oil as well.

The guys at Narked at 90 recommend the following:

    1. Get any oil out of the connectors.
    2. Add a few drops of white vinegar to each connector.
    3. Gently push them together and leave them together for no more than 10 mins.
    4. Rinse out with fresh water and blow dry, then add a few drops of mineral oil.

I have used this successfully for exactly the issue you describe.

Thanks all for the tips! I bought some of this stuff(Deoxit Gold):

It seems to have taken care of it and no more missing sensor. I'll try the vinegar solution in the future as there's always some of that around. It looks like the $6 tube of deoxit will last me a while, and I picked up some mineral oil. Most importantly though, I know now not to leave my computer laying with the wet stuff.
