    Default Eagles Nest Rules

The new Eagles Nest Rules go into effect today at noon.

The following is cut and pasted verbatim from the document the FWC cent me.

Chassahowitzka SCUBA diving rule fact sheet
    68A-15.061
    Aug. 8, 2018
? The Chassahowitzka SCUBA diving rule will become effective on Aug. 9. This rule requires SCUBA divers to register to dive anywhere in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area (WMA).
? Eagles Nest site is NOT closing.
? The registration process will be online and no cost, and can be accessed at:
    https://public.myfwc.com/CrossDOI/PermitMe.
? The WMA entry fee will still apply.
? SCUBA diver registration information will be clearly posted on signs at the WMA entry/check station and at
    the Eagles Nest site.
? The rule requirement to register only applies to SCUBA diving and SCUBA divers.
? The rule/registration language includes several recommendations related to SCUBA diving training. These
are recommendations only and not requirements.
? There is a requirement that all SCUBA divers be at least 18 years of age.
? There is currently no annual pass provision; each diver must register for each separate dive.
? Divers are required to have the completed proof of registration in their possession and present either a
paper or e-copy to a Commission law enforcement officer upon request.
? Failure to secure the no-cost registration is a violation of state rules and could result in a citation.

Thank you for sharing that, Ken.

The site seems a bit confusing and I was unable to find mention of the dive rules referenced. Perhaps some one a more adept at navigating a government site could list the steps you finding and purchasing the proper permit.

@kensuf You have a reading comprehension issue -- here is the the data verbatim from the regulations.

    https://www.flrules.org/gateway/rule...?id=68A-15.061

    (e) SCUBA diving on Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area is prohibited, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph.
    1. SCUBA diving is allowed only by persons 18 years of age or older, after completion of the no-cost “Chassahowitzka WMA SCUBA Diving Registration” with the Commission, prior to SCUBA diving, accessed at https://public.myfwc.com/CrossDOI/PermitMe. CHASS-1, a document encompassing the content of the registration entitled “Chassahowitzka SCUBA Registration Instructions” (Dated December 2017), is hereby incorporated by reference and available at http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/refer...p?No=Ref-09597, or from the Commission, at The Southwest Regional Office, 3900 Drane Field Road, Lakeland, Florida 33811-1207.
    2. SCUBA Divers are required to present an electronic or paper copy of proof of registration and government issued identification upon request by the Commission.
    3. Completion of the Chassahowitzka SCUBA diver registration does not eliminate the Chassahowitzka daily use permit fee requirement.

Is there verbage against OW diving and freediving in the rules? As well as verbage about non-Trimix and cave certified divers?

    The rules - https://www.flrules.org/Gateway/View...sp?id=20691475

I don't see anything that specifically address gas mixes or freediving -- just SCUBA

On the page that the link takes you to there are several choices listed under the "FWC APPLICATIONS" heading in the middle of the page. The last one is "Permit Me", click that one, it takes you to a page with a list of various permits they issue. The fourth one down is the Scuba permit for the Chassahowitzka WMA. That takes you to a pretty straightforward page.

"does your wife know you dive like that?" - quote from Jeff Hancock on seeing me gearing up to dive back mount.

That's what I saw. Seems they'd want that in there. Or something specifically stating exact requirements as well as penalties for breaking those rules. After all this is an attempt to decrease chances of issues there.

Instructions on how to register at Eagles Nest. The first link is to register the second is for the permit.
