    No, he is trying to say that most of us were taught to turn the dive when you have an equipment failure, therefore the failure happens at the turn point almost 100% of the time.

    And that you should plan for failure to occur at the worst possible time - at the point of maximal penetration.

    If the same thing happens again, odds and statistics are unimportant. What would seem important to me is to find a different regulator technician. (even if it happens to be myself)
