    Default Smaller Rigs

    Hi all,

A smaller friend of the lady variety has asked me to source a smaller set up for her, backplate and wing...

She's about 5"5 and fairly petite.

I was looking at the OxyCheq stuff as it seems reasonably priced and they do smaller sizes.

Has anybody any experience with it, good or bad?

Would like to know before I advise she parts with her moneys.

    Thanks all,

Single, unlikely to go down the doubles route.

    OxyCheck do smaller plates.

Deepseasupply has small pattern backplates, too.

My wife dives a halcyon short plate. Definitely not on the cheap side but well worth it. She pinched her wing and it was repaired for free years after purchase.

DSS make some nice wings and short plates but Tobin has been such an a--hole to people on the internet (luckily not me) and has such a bad attitude that I wont buy from him. I hear some people love him and he's nice to them. Personally I think he needs some anger management or no internet access.

I use the DSS ?short? plate and the Oxycheq 18 lb wing for warm water single tank dives, and absolutely love the combination.

Do you use a STA with the wing or not? It suggests its not needed.

My husband has the same rig, and does not. I do, though, because my STA kit adds about a pound of perfectly-distributed weight. That negates the need for me to wear ditchable weight, which I absolutely love.
