Default Attn: Florida & Bahamas. INCOMING!

    http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/grap...443.shtml?cone

As of last night's updates, most of the computer models show Hurricane Irma heading north of Cuba into the Bahamas and Florida.

Irma is strengthening VERY RAPIDLY and could reach Category 5.

Landfall in Bahamas could be next Friday, and Florida next weekend.

Computer models as of 12:00Z show over 50% probability of Irma hitting Florida as a Cat 4 or Cat 5 storm.

Latest Hurricane Hunter flight this morning has Irma at 154kt (180mph) wind. IF Irma cuts thru the mountains of Cuba, it is expected to diminish to Cat 3.

BUT.. if it shoots thru the Florida Strait, it could retain Cat 5 winds when it comes ashore in south Florida.

Still no 100% agreement on track models. Will Irma turn North and go across the entire Florida peninsula, or will it continue West into the Gulf?

    Stay tuned.

Weather baloons going up in michigan and the great lakes to see how the nottherly front will factor in. They need to see wind speeds and barometric changes to really give a clear picture. Amazing that weather that hasnt even moved into that area can affect if florida gets hit by a hurricane.

I saw that, they're launching radiosonde balloons at 6hr intervals to get best possible data.

It's a tug-of-war between the Bermuda High and the Jet Stream. Will find out who the winner is this weekend.
