There will be a meeting tomorrow with the heads of training agenceies, board memebers of cave agencies to discuss the future access to Eagles Nest. I was told to "Exspect changes". Thanks to all the who are volunteering their time to keep access to this site.

The meeting will be with the FWC, at their headquarters.

Thanks for all your help TJ and everyone involved in keeping Eagles Nest accessible for our community. Hopefully any changes will improve safety for all. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Am I the only one that senses a negative undertone to "expect changes?"

Changes don't necessarily mean something negative. Perhaps a plan will be installed to allow properly credentialed divers to access the site, and keep out the OW divers, or people using the site for training that is not deep cave related.

One of the biggest problems teaching in a site like EN, is that students often go back to their training site for their first couple of post training dives. Without an instructor, that tends to lead to trouble. Fourty or so years ago, there was OW training at many north Florida cave sites. A lot of the fatalities back then were due to divers going back to where they were trained OW, and went past the cavern zone.
