Default Shearwater PREDATORS holding their value?

Hi guys I'm new here but I have a question I've been trying to get answers to. The new petrel cost about$900 out the door at my lds. With that being said why do I still see and keep seeing predators on cavediver.net, rebreather world, and scuba board selling for $550-$900??? By no means at all am I knocking the predator as I am the proud owner of two happily married predators( male with the Fischer and female being the sa) but if you look the predator as will sell from $550-$700 and the Fischer from $750-$900. Do these predators really hold this much value. And even if they do why wouldn't people go buy a brand new petrel 2 for a couple of extra hundred or even the same cost. Please try to enlighten me guys thanks a lot.

Why do you keep seeing them sell for those high prices? Because people pay it, making that the value of them.

As far as what keeps the values so high, it's simple: Quality. They're unbelievably high quality computers. The support for them is outstanding....to the point that the Predators are still fully supported. Petrel2 really isn't that big of an upgrade over the Petrel1, so not a ton of people care to go that route. The Petrel2 is a nice perk, but by no means are people flooding the market and flocking to the Petrel2s in droves. Heck, even Predator vs Petrel is nearly a wash!

Frankly I like the predator display better, I wish I hadn't sold mine now.

Exactly. If I had my choice, it'd be predator all day. I prefer the larger size and I believe the petrel screen is a huge step down. I believe but may be wrong but some of the hardware like the depth sensor is a little more sensitive in the petrel.

What Victor said...they hold their value.

I happen to like the display of my Predator though I like the smaller size when maneuvering in and out of the water of the Petrel. There are some newer features that mark an improvement but overall, the screen is mostly what I paid for (reliability, support, etc.)

I edited the thread title. I try and let most typos go, but fix the ones in thread titles.
