    :arrowblack Dan Shibata

For you that knew Dan Shibata ... He passed away Sept 11, 2012. It was unexpected and a tragic loss to those that knew him. Dan was an avid cave diver who dove with the best of us. He was known also for his Japan diving expeditions with Lamar Hires. Dan battled health issue's for a long time that kept him away from the diving he so dearly loved but he always stayed connected to it in some way. Dan was my best friend and I can tell you he was the best and dedicated friend you could have. A upstanding guy the best. His sister Lilly and mother Kay and all his friends and family will miss him dearly. I know he was close to Lamar and his family, John Doud, Dr. Rob Spokane and many other cave divers. Funeral to be held in Mississauga,ON

Dan was a friend, and at one time, webmaster for the NSS-CDS. Sorry to hear the news. Please pass the condolences from the BoD of the NSS-CDS to his family.

You couldn't ask for a better friend or dive buddy than Dan. He was my first cave diving buddy and I hated to see his health deteriorate causing him to move back to Canada. I enjoyed diving with him so much that I carried both our doubles up and down the steps at Little River when his feet were giving him problems. I look forward to diving with him again on the other side........he should have plenty of line laid by the time I get there!! R.I.P. Dan, you will be missed.

Dan was the CDS webmaster when I first inherited UWS. I think Dan had already moved to Canada but he was always quick to help while I was learning how to assemble what was a newsletter and has since morphed into a color magazine. RIP Dan.
