    Default QDT/DRSS Mexico Cave exploration

for anyone who is interested this is what we have been up to in Mexico this year, we have insane footage of the exploration and the actual discovery of the Ho Lee Sheet tunnel in Cenote Caterpillar, that was an insane dive, possibly a once in a lifetime find and we got the entire dive on tape.
We are editing full length documentaries on the discoveries and explorations of Cenote Doggi, Cenote Caterpillar and Sandcrack to be released later this year as an Exploration series DVD.

some times sharing the exact position to the masses can be negative for cave and for stupid people, I find better the traditional way, asking but sharing and involving people is absolutely the best way to go, those projects would have taken many years to go that far if it where done differently.
what is there so far? like 100000 feet of cave? in less than two years?

Mauro, what are you saying here? Does the lack of replies to Phillip's post make you think that US/FL cave divers are not interested in in the exploration going on in MX?

in my opinion sharing and collaboration is the way to go and the true spirit of exploration, here is a small example of why: a long time ago in the DR Thomas and I were filling tanks at our local LDS before going to explore Cueva de Los Murcielagos a new cave we had just discovered this Swedish guy called Michael was there asking about caves i the area, we talked a few minutes about cave diving etc.. and he seemed really cool so Thomas and I decided to postpone our exploration by a day and show Michael El Dudu instead. After diving El Dudu we invited Michael to come and explore Murcielagos with us the next day after a super fun dive we were talking about one day going to Mexico and Michael gave me Kim's number, had I been all secretive about my new little cave I would not have ever met Kim and in the process never have discovered all the amazing Mexican caves I have had the privilege of exploring (yes I consider exploring a cave a privilege).

When I met Cristian and Dave Thomas and I invited them both to go explore the at the time newly discovered Manantial El Toro, and again it was the beginning of a multitude of epic exploration dives and discoveries and a collaboration that led to us founding the DRSS.

So through sharing and collaboration I have discovered and explored a multitude of caves that I would have otherwise never had explored and more importantly I have met a really cool bunch of people and divers I now call my friends.

    Well said Phillip.

I hope that a lack of replies to your exploration postings don't keep you from posting. As a US based "tourist" cave diver, I'm interested in the exploration you and others are doing. While work and family commitments will constrain my diving to tourist status, it does not mean I can't enjoy the work others are doing. I'm heading to MX for the first time in a week or so, but the shear number of huge systems down there is overwhelming. I suspect that time, money and quite a few US sites keep most US cave divers focused on the caves here in the US. Yes, this is mostly a US based forum, but the lack of responses to this thread is probably due to little to no familiarity with the systems you guys are diving, not lack of interest. Keep up the good work and by all means, keep posting!

Florida is on my list of must dive sites and I will be going there in the near future for sure, you guys are really spoiled over there. One cave in particular looks really cool (on video so I don't really know) little river and the serpentine tunnel, that is exactly the kind of cave I really like also the Rocky Horror tunnel looks awesome too (amongst a myriad of caves and videos I have seen of FL). What would the top 10 must dive spots of FL for a tourist like me be?

Well I did hope that the C-Share thing would have received more interest to be honest... I mean that the possibility of sharing new explorations maps with others who think data should be public is a very good tool and the rest of the program is worth checking out.. More this than lack of interest in the caves down here... Mauro
