Only if the water isn't "behind" the rock as well. Like anything already loose, or cracked, if it's permeable rock, or the water table isn't a whole lot lower than the lake. It will still make it less likely to collapse, but only by making the rock lighter by just over 60 lbs per cubic foot.

I'd not put alot of faith in hydrostatic pressure to hold up rock or sand. A whole lotta sand and gravel could pour out from behind one board pretty fast.

Compared to the mines we've found and dived up here there's just a buttload of shoring in there. Locally ours look almost like caves once you get past the portal as there are one one or two shored bits in several hundred feet of mine.

That's what I said in the last paragraph - it's where we agree.

I will be diving the mine this weekend hopefully and complete laying line in the last passage. I will be videoing like always and post some footage. I will get some video of the ore carts and the nearby structures as well.

Sorry I've been slacking...the mine has been officially been completely explored! I still need to map it and take proper measurements (I have some rough ones I need to add up). I was suppose to take a water sample this last time but I screwed that up, LOL. I will post some video later today.

This the video I shot previously on the long side of the mine, viz was not so great that day. The video is long, cause I had made it for friends so they could see as much as possible inside the mine.
