    Dear Mr. Tanzler :

RE: CUP Application #2-083-129419-1 Adena Springs Ranch

I’m a concerned citizen and I oppose this permit due to the fact that a study has not been done and or completed on the affects of the Florida aquifer.

A 50-year retrospective stud of Silver Springs revealed the following

    • NO3-N has increased by 176%
    • Water clarity has decreased
    • Nighttime dissolved oxygen has declined by about 19%
    • Total plant and algal biomass increased by 88%
    • Ecosystem productivity declined by 27%
    • Insect productivity declined by 72%
    • Fish biomass declined by 96%
    • Silver River flows have declined by about 50% since 1965 - a reduction of 480 cfs

This CUP poses great risk to our drinking water and the surrounding springs and waterways and greater risk to Silver Springs. Silver Springs is part of the Florida aquifer, and such damage you see to the spring is actually occurring to the aquifer we rely on for our drinking water and the health of our state and economy.

As of today the 6/21/12 the City of Cedar Key has reported no potable water due to saltwater intrusion. This is another example of why you should deny this permit. As you can see our aquifer can’t handle any additional withdraw.

Please protect our drinking water and the springs and rivers in the area.

    Thank You

Looks good, but you left off the "y" in "study"

I will -pass this along to the NSS-CDS BoD.

This is a 35 page document from and attorney opposing this project. There is a lot more info on all the spring sheds and aquifer, this document just doesn't apply to Adena Spring Ranch.

Default Adena "Were Ready to Talk"

I got an email from Adena Spring Ranch yesterday ask for feedback on there project. I say we give them our options about the 13.2 mgd of water use and the impact to our springs/drinking water.

    We're Ready to Talk.

The discussion over Adena Springs Ranch has been peppered with emotion. We get it. People are concerned about Florida’s water resources. We are working hard to develop a plan that protects water flows and water quality on and off the ranch.

But every step we take, every plan we make is supported by solid science. From water management to nutrient monitoring, we’re committed to being good stewards while developing a Fresh From Florida product and creating jobs.

It is our plan to raise and harvest cattle in a humane way that protects our neighbors and the environment.

Please feel free to visit www.AdenaSpringsRanch.com to see what we are planning to do.

If you still have questions, or if you have another idea, we’re open to suggestions.

We are good stewards. We plan to keep it that way.
