Default HP100's clipped to your dogbone ?

I have being trying to get my setup dialed in lately. I have been using Al80's in the pool and had things worked out well. Until I put on my HP100's that I will actually be diving with. What a disaster! It was like trying to wrestle cats. I started off with the bottom clips on my back d-rings but the 100's just hang to low for me. More towards the bottom of my thigh. So I clipped them off to the dogbone on my butt. Much better but not perfect as the clips pull across my upper thigh. Next time I will try to shorten up my bottom clips but was wondering if anybody dives with them clipped off so far back ?

My setup sounds the same as yours.Im using the DSS double D for the last 2 years even with HP130's. And once you get it dialed in you wont
notice it at all. My placement of the double D is just below My UTD Z plus wing

    What's a dogbone?

I dive HP 100's. I attach them to the regular handles on the Nomad. I dont have any length in my clip though. It sits right against my cam band. If I clip the bottom clip first, the bottom of the tank will sit high, but as soon as I raise the valve up to my armpit, the tank becomes level. I also had to roatate my cam band around to the 4 and 8 o'clcok position which doesnt allow the tank to roll, hang down or rise up.

No, for the past thirty years (at least) a "dogbone" has been a double-ended bolt snap. Although that double D-ring does indeed look like a dogbone, you might want to come up with another name since "dogbone" has been in use for something else for so long.

    I know - how about "double D-ring?"

I do precisely the same rigging. The only "problem" I've encountered is during an open water dive, if I elect to really breathe those tanks down, I've noticed they tend to lose their trim - enough to be noticible. A few times I've had to switch the clips from the rails on the Nomad to D-rings on the waistband. Not a crisis, just my OCD. I want everything to stay in one place! If you're cave diving, i.e. respecting completely different gas tolerances, I bet this is a non-issue.
