After getting sick and tired of snap clips being jammed stuck after Rock Bluff (darn near every dive) I've moved over to using carabiners on the tanks. I realize they can trap line, however they are held closed by the attachment point and are so easy to clear.
Figured some of you would be interested.

I just love my razor. I dive side mount for small cave and always use a wetsuit, no helmet and LM 9w led. Love how clean the system is...

May be rude of me, but arent those called suicide clips I see? (the carabiners)

I don't take it rudely. They are carabiners, which can open if objects are pushed against them.
The practice of wriggling into tight caves is dangerous, no doubt, each piece of gear needs to be objectively evaluated by the diver and a decision regarding the advantages and disadvantages with regards to safety made.
I find that the ease of clearing line from the biner as well as keeping the tanks tight to my body outweigh the risk. The biner gate is trapped by the attachment point making it even more difficult to catch line...but it's certainly possible. I grew sick of having snap clips frozen shut with dirt from diving rock bluff.
No one can evaluate the risk of a particular piece of gear for another.
Here's a good thead on their use and other folks more eloquent responses.

IMO there are so many other places the line can get trapped on, why not use biners? And correct me if I am wrong they are called suicide clips not having anything at all to do with diving but rather they can come undone while rock climbing if they don't have the lock mechanism.

agreed phillip; However I've been climbing since I was 11 or so and never heard them called suicide clips in climbing, only biners. Locking biners are used for specialized purposes, belay stations, belaying, rappelling...most of the time climbers use normal biners.

I cant remember I think I posted a question about why suicide clips were called suicide clips and that was the answer it had absolutely nothing to do with a diving entanglement hazard. The advantage to "suicide" clips is that they can only fail open.

I use suicide clips on my sidemount tanks after having to cut out of bolt snaps. Sand is crappy in that manner...

I dont use suicide clips but it is because I don't really like them, it has nothing to do with an entanglement hazard. I find regular bolt snaps just as bad entanglement wise, when a line really gets caught in the space of the bolt it is as bad an entanglement as a suicide clip more or less.
