Default Line from Challenge to Olsen

Doing the grand traverse today, we was going up the incline to come out in Olsen from the Challenge side, and I noticed the gold line was frayed pretty bad.

    Was the outer sheath compromised?

Yes, just saw white strands holding it together.

We will have members of the line committee go take a look and effect repairs asap.

IIRC there was another section of the traverse line that looked pretty ratty between challenge and olsen a few days ago but I can't remember for sure where.

BTW if you see something like this, please take a moment to put in a temporary patch with some line off your safety reels/spools. It's something we're all taught to do in cave training, it doesn't take a moment and if the gold braid does break we still have our continuous guideline...

As a note...one of the NFSA line committee members replaced/repaired that line a few weeks ago.

Rich is correct...make the fix. Then report it so we can do a permanent fix vs a temporary fix. We are all in this & on these lines together.

Line committe stuff can be seen at: http://northfloridaspringsalliance.org/lines.htm at this link.

I didn't know what the rules were places where they have line committee's, I have been doing repairs places like convict and what not. Didn't want to step on any toes.
