    Default Butt Plate Comparison

I had a chance to work with both the Nomad and Armadillo butt plates recently. Both as additions to my home made harness. Both are well made. I liked how flexible/soft the Armadillo plate was, but it was damn narrow. The Nomad plate is stiff, but far wider.

In the end, I am keeping the Nomad plate, as the Armadillo is just too narrow.

    Jason,

For guys like us with broad shoulders (or you with really broad shoulders) it's nearly impossible to reach the armadillo rails. Jakub at Golem Gear makes some top notch stuff though, I just wish he would make a bigger buttplate.

Would you like to sell the Armadillo plate?

Absolutely quality stuff. That is why I went with it over other options. Dive Rite make some great stuff well, but the materials used in the Armadillo plate are obviously higher quality than the Nomad plate.

I will be selling it, but I am in a trade discussion with another diver already. His problem is the Nomad is too large, wide, stiff, whatever. I will PM you if he passes on the trade.

As an FYI, DR changed the towel bars on the nomad tail plate last fall.

The new bars look kinda sorta but not exactly like the ones on their tech tail plate.

Technically you're wrong. They actually now look EXACTLY like the ones on the Tech plate... considering they changed both plates at that time to a common handle.
