    Default Little River 2-7

my buddy and i rocked a dive at little river yesterday. we arrived around 12 to find that only two or three other teams were there. as mentioned in a number of posts about the springs, the water level is low, and the flow wasn't really noticeable. we gold lined down the right side of the first t, and continued down the main line from the second t to about 1500 or 1600 feet. we didn't see another teams the whole dive. lots of albino crayfish moving around and of course the clay banks are always cool to see. nice not to be blown out of the cave in what seems like mere seconds after spending a hour fighting the flow to get any where.

when we surfaced things were getting busy. deco bottles, stages and side mount tanks were taking up a lot of the available space on the rocks, and people were waiting to get in. we chatted with some new friends on our way out, and got a dose of the infamous caver attitude from some divers as well, meaning they don't even glance at you when your walking by and say hello. i wonder if these people think things like "i'm a cave diver, and i don't have time to talk to you. this is a serious sport. i won't have any fun until i'm out of this thing alive and packing my gear down on the tailgate of my giant truck. look at you with your yellow fins and that big smile. stop smiling all ready, this is serious business!" to each there own.

by three, lots of other divers showed up (seems busy for a tuesday?) and we headed back to cathy's for fills and lunch. my buddy wussed out on a second dive so we bounced home, grabbed a couple of beers and called it a day.

    great viz, low flow
    82 minute run time
    32% at 3600 in bm 108's
10 minutes of deco on 100%

LOL... I have met that guy! Good thing they are few and far between.

They still won't have fun. They still won't smile. The only reason they do this is to prove how macho they are.

Sounds like a perceived inadequacy somewhere...

I swear that some of them, you know the ones that all dress exactly alike etc. Well, if you listen closely you can hear the Hut, Hut, chant as they walk around.

I was there right before you. We talked about the padi rebreather stuff. It was my first time at little river, my instructor said yhe flow could be brutal there. But like you said there was none.

it was a nice day to dive little river, and also great to talk with you guys about some of the stuff going on in the dive industry. where did you go in the system that allowed you to see my cookies but not bump into pat and i? if i remember correctly your team was headed in shortly after ours, and your instructor was still around when we exited. hope your dives and training went well.

My apologies for not speaking to you guys. I was in a hurry. My horse and I had just finished a dive. He had exceeded his allowable bottom time and I was in sort of a rush to get him to the hyperbaric chamber.

Did you ride him back mount or side mount?

He prefers BM (or at least he used to). The chamber "ride" didn't turn out too well.

Within the 1st paragraph of my cave training book it states "Reasons to not take up cave diving" 1 of which is "To boost ones ego" Yet you run into cave divers that do for reasons just the same.
