    Default Flooded light. Need Help

I need some help. I just got done with a dive and flooded the head of my Halcyon Helios 10W light head. Some of the water made it's way down in to the canister. Maybe a half teaspoon. The worst part is it was salt water. What do I need to do to salvage as much of this as I can?

LOL. Yeah, that is what I was afraid of. Any way to test it all other then plugging it all up and turning it on once it dries out?

Sorry that happened. I would think you'd want to clean the salt water from the light really good before firing it up again so as not to fry anything, but there are people out here that know tons more than me. I would just say hold off on firing the ballast until you've gotten some more advice on the next step.

May be too late, but a good fresh water rinse first, the disassemble the whole light, and let it dry. Odds are you are going to have to replace the cord, it is hare to get salt of them. The rest may/may not have survived. Obviously all the outer parts (canister, light head housing) will be fine.
I had one flood in an ocean cave, and by the time I got out, the only salvageable parts were the head, and canister

I just had that happen to my LM. I just laid it out to dry and contacted LM. I've sent it in to them now so they can check it out. Too big of an investment for me to play around with. The salt water will definitely eat away at all the insides after time even if it still works now. Better to get it checked out by the professionals IMHO. It was the first time I'd dove with it in salt water. Good ole Murphy's Law!

Batteries will die quickly if any salt water got into them.

I think I am just going to say "F IT". The thing that really sucks is it is a new bulb. Only used it twice. I am going to look at it as a positive and not a negative. Bobby just got a customer. I am going to send him the light and have him upgrade it to LED. Well, in a month or so when I can afford to do it. I have checked the battery, and it has no signs of water inside of it that I can see. Sucks that it is a delrin head though and I will need a new head.

No guarantees, but the government recovered a lot of 'stuff' after Katrina.

Distilled water, not just Fresh Water. Distilled allows everything to dissolve into it. Several rinsings. Do NOT leave salt water on anything.

You can get a gallon or five from any grocery store for a few bucks.

James, if you want to send me your light, since you're saying F it, I'd love to play with it.

I will have to check to see if they sell distilled water at the NEX here. They really don't sell anything here! LOL.. Thanks for the tip.
