An annoying waste of time, like Facebook. I keep getting requests to join both, but I just delete them.

Social media with a focus on business, whether it be personal business accomplishments or an organization itself.

I bet at one time, some old guy said the same thing about internet forums As annoying as it may be, social media is here to stay.
Ever surprised by the amount of holes involved in cave diving.

No doubt, but it takes up a lot of people's time that could be spent better on other things, like forums

I said this about the internet and email, way back when I ran a HUB WWIV BBS system on FIDONet. "We can already send messages through computers. It'll just never catch on because no one will switch."

That is right up there with Bill Gate's statement: "640k is all the memory anyone would ever need"

Ditto for me too. I figure I spend enough time on the computer as it is and God knows I don't want to do anything to add to it! But, if it works for someone else, or a business, then that's fine for them.
(I also don't do ANY online banking or bill paying.)

A colleague came up to one day and exclaimed "We have email!"

I said "What the "heck" is that?"

Chuck responded it would allow us to send a message from one computer to another.

Instantly grasping the big picture, I told Chuck, "What a stupid idea! If I need you, I'll just holler. Email will never amount to anything."

I would sincerely like to believe I have become more open to technology advances since that time.

Out of curiosity what is the average number of years that people here on this forum have been using e-mail?
For me, and due to the University of Florida's freenet system, which was heavily in use during the 90's and at other schools around the nation, I've been sending and receiving e-mails since 1995 and I still have (and use) my original afn e-mail address.
Prior to that, in the real early 1990s, I did a little bit of stuff on Compuserve.
