Med grade o2 when filled, is vacuumed before the fill -14psi. Then they fill the take this in sure there is no trace gas within the bottle. Although several places fill there take with this methad so they need not keep k bottles separate and can put them in service how ever. Cheaper then two fleets of tanks.

I made the mistake of traveling to the keys recently without any sort of nitrox card.. I just had my 30 year old OW card, my NAUI instructor card and full cave card with me. Two shops refused to give me a nitrox fill, the third one at least knew all NAUI instructors are allowed to teach nitrox so I was cleared. I've now added a trimix card into my wallet just so I don't have to go through those hoops again..

I saw Dixie Divers in PC blow off a guy that wanted a Nitrox fill when he handed them a full cave card.
They said it's a cave card, not a nitrox card. He looked like he'd been served a t**d sandwich.
Went to my truck and dug out an old nitrox instructor card and got the tank filled.
There's nothing like a cave shop is there? I refuse to do business with anyone else.
Gauge says 4300 PSI??? That's what I call Doin' It Right!

Aviation O2 is safer, since nothing but O2 ever gets into the tanks.
Although very unlikely both scenarios are possible, I have "backfire" valves on my welding regs, and torch as I have seen somehow or another a cutting torch backfire and burn though the hoses. Made for an exciting time. Of course to get acetylene in your O2 tank you would have to have an exceptionally low O2 tank, less than 15 PSI or so and that would be one extremely dangerous bomb, but it's possible. When I worked in the oil field in the late 70's we would entertain ourselves by filling a piece of drill stem with O2 and acetylene mix and ignite the mix, even though both ends of the pipe were open, the explosion was so loud it would hurt your ears. Acetylene and pure O2 are extremely dangerous .
As you say Aviation O2 is safer, but the numb nuts at Air Products in Albany continue to insist that I have to have a prescription, actually I don't think they want to fill my little 32 cuft bottle, I think it's 32 anyway, and as there aren't any mountains near here, I use so little of it, it's not worth the argument, plus it's my welding bottle that I use to refill with, and I don't do anything stupid with it.

True, true, but do they have time to maintain their plane? That's cold! Dan's O2 provider card only last 2 years before revision?
