I got some info today and I believe it wasn't really a gear issue as it was a price point issue. I think they just took the higher priced gear. If serial numbers become available I will surely let ya'll know.

In what other way could someone have interpreted it? That they were afraid of catching Chinese cooties?

If you have in-store video review it. There's a good chance they were in the store when it was open to see what was more valuable to grab.
