Default MK25/S600 or Hog D1 - Looking for feedback

Have to replace my regs (another post).

Use to dive S600/MK25 and Atomic B2. Loved them BOTH!!!!

The more I research the HOG D1 the more I have to admit I am very tempted. Although ironically, the working on them myself is not something that I have a lot of interest in. Just like everyone else I'm sure, it is the price that is SOOOO appealing. I can almost buy 3 of them for the price of one S600/MK25.

But here in lies the question - how comparable are they? If the ScubaPro is hands down better, then frankly, I'd rather pay the extra money. But if they are almost identical... I may lean towards price.

This is for my doubles setup. Will be used in Florida/Mexico cave systems and the occasional deep ocean wreck (200-250 max depth).

So speak up... What is your opinion/experiences????

That looks identical to the mk25 actually I wouldn't pay the premium of atomic or scubapro. They may perform a tad better to a computer, but you won't notice a difference

Integresting. I had not seen the Piton first stage of theirs yet. That actually help, as I prefer piston. Weird you don't see that part mentioned very often.

cuz they weren't very popular with a lot of divers preferring the diaphragm. For $115/first stage, I'd jump on them

It doesn't to me, but what do I know - I've only been working on Scubapro regs since 1996.

ok yeah, you win. not identical, but pretty damn close. cap is different and the mk25 has the fins, but other than that they're pretty close. I don't know what you can get the mk25 for, but for $115 each the bp1 is almost disposable...

I've seen too many MK25s free flow, even with the cold water kits on them. I use mine only for vacation pretty fish diving. I tried a HOG, and it was a good reg as well, but not good enough for me to replace my Apeks.

Interesting. I've been a Scubapro technician for sixteen years and was not aware they have ever made a cold water kit for the Mark 25. Is this some aftermarket item?
