What a funny coincidence. I was just taking pictures of those very clay banks last weekend. I love them and fear their damage.

Yes they are beautiful and unfortunately someone crashed into them year before last. They are healing but the damage can still be seen.

I have not seen evidence of that - is it visible on the video?

Greenwood_60 ... How did you embed the video?

Default Dry Cave Clay Banks

Ever see a clay bank in a dry cave?

They are just as pretty, but even more fragile.

I didn't see evidence of damage when I was there recently. I was actually very surprised and spent some time oogling them all over. Even though I know you'd NEVER touch, I admit I was cringing as the video got closer and closer to them.

Citracaver, yes, I have and yes they are very beautiful. How are they more fragile, though? I'm a dry cave rookie for the most part and keep my distance from pretties, lest I should slip/slide into them.

If you bump into a clay bank underwater it will put a mark in it. If you bump into a clay bank in a dry cave (like the one in my second picture) the entire thing can come loose and fall to the floor. Dried, cracked clay is very fragile if it is stacked vertically any distance. From my experience, most of these clay banks that occur in Florida dry caves are just hanging on by a thread at the edge of a shelf.

I guess you could say a clay bank with a mark in it is better than no clay bank at all, but the best option is a clay bank with no marks.

Used "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vP-fHGq-cs" and clicked the "insert video" button... nothing special. What did you try?

Looks like this (except the end is a ], not a }):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vP-fHGq-cs[/video}

This is the only important part. Any youtube "v=" identifier should work. Then something to describe the video (for those that get the video blocked, I think), then the [/video} tag (with ]).
